General Health and Wellness

There is so much on the internet about maintaining health that is confusing and often untrue. We use good quality testing to look at your current state of nutritional health and – if needed – provide detailed nutrition support (everything from meals to snacks that fit your taste and life) and good quality supplement suggestions.

Aging

Achy joints, weight gain, reduced stamina, memory issues, insomnia are not always signs of aging. They are also signs of poor health.  We analyze diet and lifestyle and add in testing as needed to assess wellness strategies that can help you feel better.

Autoimmune Disease

Diet, lifestyle and proper supplements can play a pivotal role in improving symptoms of autoimmune disease, but there is so much information out there on this subject, it’s hard to know what works, what doesn’t, and what’s harmful! We help debunk the myths and sort out what may be right for you with lab testing, a detailed lifestyle analysis and intake, and follow up.

Chronic Fatigue

Fatigue is an important indicator that something may be wrong.  We use nutrient and wellness testing using blood, urine, stool, and saliva to assess areas of deficiency that – when addressed – may improve symptoms.

Self Healing (Cranial Sacral Therapy)

The central nervous system plays a vital role in the body's ability to heal itself. Cranial sacral therapy is a gentle form of energy work that addresses the body's central nervous system in order to reboot the self-healing process. Through the gentle manipulation of the head, spine, neck, and pelvis, the flow of cerebrospinal fluid in the central nervous system can be rebalanced, revitalized, and normalized. By removing developed 'blockages' from the cerebrospinal flow, the body's central system is corrected and rejuvenated, enabling and promoting the body's ability to heal itself.

Cranial sacral therapy works to restore the natural position of the skeletal system and has an enormous impact on relieving stress, both emotional and physical. The work is most commonly used to treat:

  • migraines and headaches

  • intestinal imbalances and gut issues

  • disturbed sleep cycles and insomnia

  • jaw, neck, and back pain

  • trauma recovery and PTSD

  • mood disorders like anxiety or depression

  • fertility

Women's Health: Hormones & Menopause

Hormone Imbalance: If you suffer from PMS, low testosterone, low libido, infertility these may all be signs of hormone imbalance. Dr. McDonnell uses blood work testing and analysis, adjustments to lifestyle and diet and herbal tinctures to help bring balance back into the system.

Menopause: You’re over 40, your missing periods or your periods have started to become irregular. Your PMS may have worsened, and you have moments when your memory is not what it used to be. Time goes on, and you find you are plagued with hot flashes, insomnia – not necessarily being able to fall asleep - but definitely waking up at 4 or 5 am and not being able to go back to sleep. As you may have guessed, you are experiencing the hormone ebbs and flows leading up to menopause – better known as perimenopause. This shift can last as long as ten years in some, months in others, but whether it’s short or long, it is a precursor to a whole new body – one that metabolizes food differently, may have difficulty building muscle and stores a generous portion of fat in the belly and hips. Libido may change, urinary tract infections may pop up, and vaginal dryness may start.

There are so many naturopathic interventions that can smooth the way at all phases. Herbal tinctures can soften hormone shifts; lifestyle and dietary changes can act as arsenals of ammunition against weight gain, mood swings and insomnia.  Most importantly, educating and empowering women to help them understand the whats and whys of the shifts their bodies are going through is a key aspect of my treatment. It is not a “done deal” that post menopausal women are fatter, weaker, anxious, and more forgetful. There are time tested remedies and protocols that can help.
